Who doesn’t like nursery rhymes?
I sat on my couch and started to read aloud “Diverse Nursery Rhymes” by Anita Nahal, PhD. I was close to my four year old son. He was playing, but when I finished reading “I love Mummy”, the first rhyme of the book, he was at my side, looking at my Ipad screen, very interested. He really enjoyed listening to the rhythmical flow of the text and I enjoyed a lot reading the book for him.
Nursery rhymes are a very good tool to help young children build their vocabulary and also teach them to read, and I think this book can help parents and teachers to do both things, since Anita Nahal describes daily situations in a lovely and easy manner in these short rhythmic stories, like a little reminder about brushing your teeth with “Hippo, Hippo” or a sweet way to teach your child that smiling is better than being sad in “Smile, smile.”
I loved the pages where she leaves a blank space to encourage children to draw about the nursery rhyme, although I wished the rest of the illustrations were colorful drawings, instead of photographs, to make the book more attractive to young children.

¿A quien no le gustan las rimas?
Me senté en mi sillón y empecé a leer en voz alta “Diverse Nursery Rhymes” por Anita Nahal, PhD. Estaba cerca de mi hijo de cuatro años. Al principio, él estaba jugando, pero cuando acabé de leer “I love Mummy”, la primera rima del libro, estaba a mi lado, mirando muy atento la pantalla de mi IPad. Realmente disfrutó escuchar el flujo rítmico del texto y yo disfruté mucho leerle el libro.
Los poemas y los versos son excelentes herramientas para ayudar a los niños pequeños a construir un vocabulario y también para ayudarlos a aprender a leer, y pienso que este libro puede ayudar a los padres y a los maestros a hacer ambas cosas, ya que Anita Nahal describe situaciones diarias de una manera fácil y entrañable en estas pequeñas historias en verso, como un pequeño recordatorio para lavarse los dientes en “Hippo, Hippo” o una dulce manera para enseñarle a tu hijo que es mejor sonreír que estar triste en “Smile, smile.”
