“Seventh Night” is an excellent fantasy eBook, filled with adventures and interesting characters.

A year ago, I read “The Girl with no Name,” a sort of prequel to “Seventh Night.” Although it was obvious that the prose was very polished on that first book, I liked “Seventh Night” much more. There are several reasons for that:

• “Seventh Night” has a very clear conflict that needs resolution and there is a good sense of urgency since the beginning of the book. This keeps you interested and reading until the very end.
• The characters in this new book are down to earth and feel real. It is easy to love them and to hate them. And that is a good thing.
• The plot is very well thought and it has several turns and surprises at different times. Still, it is always clear and understandable.
• It has an ending that will allow you to close your kindle with a peace of mind and a sense of closure, saying “done!”

It is nice to meet Iscah, the author, again and witness the long way she has travelled as a writer. I always knew she had a good grasp on her world and mythology, but it bothered me that not all was explained in “The Girl with no Name.” My patience has paid off, since “Seventh Night” explains much more, but still some things are left in the dark. I guess Iscah is leaving some surprises for the next books, and I am eager to read them.

As a good fantasy work, Iscah´s world and stories are complex and it will take us reading some of her books to get to know most of what she already understands. On her website, Iscah recommends reading first “Seventh Night” and “The Girl with no Name” second. Although doing this would have you reading the stories in a reverse chronological order, I think it is an excellent suggestion: by the time you get to the second book, you will already understand more about this world and you will care more for the people that inhabit all of its different kingdoms.

At this point, for example, you can follow the weekly instalments of “Horse Feathers,” her most recent chronicle explaining the early adventures of Phillip, one of the main characters of “Seventh Night.”

I am now looking forward to “Seven and Thirteen.” Although Iscah has not said anything yet, I would like to think this is the second part of “Seventh Night.”

I recommend “Seventh Night” to all readers who want to get involved in a nice and interesting fantasy saga that will last for some books and some years to come.

eBook review: “Seventh Night” por Iscah

“Seventh Night” es un excelente eBook de fantasía, lleno de aventuras y personajes interesantes.

Hace un año, leí “The Girl with no Name”, una especie de precuela de “Seventh Night”. A pesar de que era obvio que la prosa era muy pulida en ese primer libro, “Seventh Night” me gustó mucho más. Hay varias razones para ello:

• “Seventh Night” tiene un conflicto muy claro que necesita resolución y hay una buena sensación de urgencia desde el inicio del libro. Esto te mantiene interesado y te provoca leer hasta el final.
• Los personajes de este nuevo libro se sienten reales y de carne y hueso. Es fácil amarlos y odiarlos. Y eso es bueno.
• La trama está muy bien pensada y tiene varios giros y sorpresas en diferentes momentos. Aún así, siempre es clara y comprensible.
• Tiene un final que te permitirá cerrar el Kindle con tranquilidad y un sentido de cierre, diciendo ” ¡listo!”

 Es un placer volver a encontrarme con Iscah, la autora, y presenciar el largo camino que ha recorrido como escritora. Siempre supe que ella tenía un gran dominio de su mundo y su mitología, pero me molestaba que no hubiera explicado todo en “The Girl with no Name”. Mi paciencia ha dado sus frutos, ya que “Seventh Night”, explica mucho más, pero todavía algunos cosas se dejan en la oscuridad. Supongo Iscah está dejando algunas sorpresas para los próximos libros, y estoy ansioso por leerlos.

Como en toda buena obra de fantasía, el mundo y las historias de Iscah son complejos y nos llevará leer algunos de sus libros para conocer la mayor parte de lo que ella ya sabe. En su sitio web, Iscah recomienda leer primero “Seventh Night” y “The Girl with no Name” después. Aunque esto te haría leer las historias en un orden cronológico inverso, creo que es una excelente sugerencia: para cuando llegas al segundo libro, ya entiendes más acerca de este mundo y te preocuparás por la gente que lo habita en sus diferentes reinos.
